How to Fix Canon Printer Support Code B200
The Canon B200 error is a hardware fault indicating a problem with the printhead voltage or temperature. It forces the printer to lock up completely to prevent electrical damage.
Warning: The B200 error often indicates physical failure of the printhead, requiring replacement. However, manual cleaning can sometimes revive it. Do not attempt a firmware download to fix this issue.
Step 1: The Power Drain Reset
- Turn off the printer and open the cover.
- Turn the printer back on. The printhead carriage should begin to move to the left.
- Before the carriage reaches the left side, quickly close the cover.
- Leave the printer alone. If successful, it will bypass the error check and initialize.
Step 2: Manually Clean the Printhead
If the error persists, ink coagulation may be causing overheating.
- Unplug the printer.
- Open the cover and manually slide the carriage to the center.
- Remove all ink cartridges.
- Lift the grey locking lever to release and remove the printhead basket.
- Rinse the printhead under warm water until the water runs clear.
- Gently dab the copper contacts dry with a lint-free cloth. Let the printhead air dry for 24 hours.
- Reinstall the printhead and cartridges, then turn the printer on.
Step 3: Test with Alternate Cartridges
A short-circuit in a cartridge microchip can trigger the B200 error.
- Remove all cartridges.
- Install a new, unsealed set of cartridges.
- Perform a hard power cycle.
